Yarn & Coffee Hat Drive 2026
A charitable donation drive benefiting cancer patients in the Lake County, FL area.Hosted by Yarn and Coffee Mount Dora, a Lake County fiber arts enthusiasm group formed in 2023.

This page gives you all the information you will need to participate in the Yarn and Coffee Hat Drive!
This event begins January 1, 2026 and ends March 1, 2026. Donations will be accepted throughout all of 2026, but submissions for the Drive will end on March 1!
Please read through the recommendations given by Knots of Love and Knit Pal (found below), as they are organizations that distribute hats, shawls, and blankets to cancer patients. Animal fibers (wool, cashmere, mohair, alpaca, etc.) are not recommended due to potential skin sensitivity. Soft yarn is required, as the patients may be wearing these hats against bare skin. With these recommendations in mind, choose your yarn and start making!
This drive is for adult-sized hats only. If you would like to learn more about other charity efforts in the area, please reach out. Patterns for adult-sized hats are available at Knots of Love, Knit Pal, and Ravelry.
Submit a photograph of your finished hat with your name and preferred method of contact for a chance to enter a drawing on March 15. Prizes to be announced! Submissions can be sent via Email, Facebook Messenger, or on the Yada Yada Pottery Slack. If you are not interested in participating in the drawing, you do not need to submit a photo. Photographs that are submitted may be used in social media posts. Indicate that you do not want your photograph used in social media at the time of your submission.
Submission bins can be found inside Yada Yada Pottery in Downtown Mount Dora, Wallace Fitness between Eustis and Mount Dora, Crochet Aweigh in Downtown Tavares, and The Crafted Kind in Downtown Lake Mary. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to email, message, or reach out to us!
If you are a loom knitter, you are welcome to join the hat drive! If you plan to enter the drawings, please indicate that you have loom knit your hats. To keep the drawing fair to all creators, every three (3) loom knit hats will count as a single entry to the drawing.
